Default SiuLumPao's and dragon eyeballs

We went to this fantastic restaurant in old Shanghai. It overlooked a pond. Peaceful.

They served up some great soup pao's and siulumpao's. Notice the cool teak chopsticks and old-school pull-tab coke can.

Anyone for dragon eyeballs?

The big things with the straws are filled with a meaty soup broth. I accidentally punctured mine and the soup flowed out onto the table. The waitress walked by and said "ha ha ha".

The little siulumpaos were filled with a pork sausage type meat and had some soupy broth also. Those were sooooooooo good. Believe it or not, the Shanghainese don't eat a lot of rice. Mostly the dumpling type stuff, broiled fish, curries, chicken wing knuckles, deep fried chicken feet, duck necks, bills and mostly anything that's bony.

The dragon eyeballs are kinda like grapes, with a leathery skin and kinda taste like a cross between an unripe apple and an asian pear.
