Those thing can get pretty thick at times. 22nd Street runs a "Sandab special" in the winter months. They load up with thousands of them. I have never gone on one...but have eaten some that I have caught on local trips.

To Answer your questions Roger, To clean them you just cut off the head, and clean out what small amount of guts there are. then to cook them, you just dredge them in flour and deep fry them. You can eat then like chips almost. They are actually really good, but you need several of them for a decent meal, and that is if they are good sized.

The first time I saw a boat reporting over 1200 sandab....I thought there was a misprint for sure

Yeah, I'm gonna wait until they make their way further down the coast,

I like to fry them, seasoned flour and cornstarch and egg (dredge, dip, dredge, fry). With rice and BBQ-beans.

Mmmmmmmmmmm fish chips. When we going again????? I'll bring tortillas & salsa. We can fry them on the engine manifold. :twisted:
