Default My first open water Dodo 8/19

Went out with my Cuz (Chris) on his 21' Cabo. Started off the 14 mile bank @ 6:am Found some patties holding lots of bait and baby YT, but nothing else. Shot over to the 277 and found some more patties but we were not the first ones on it, so we fished until everybody gave up (no fish landed on hook and line). We jumped in (50 to 75' of viz) and there were fish everywhere, my cuz immediately shot a nice YT, then it was my turn. One hour in the water and I could not close the gap. We took a brake for half an hour because of the Mako, Chris jumps back in and again immediately shoots a Dodo. Now I pissed. We head over to another patty, this time I'M GOING FIRST! Hit the water and bam, 5 Dodos swim right to me and I gave her the shaft. That was it for the day. Bumpy ride on the way in. I knew it would be a good day on the water because as we left the dock I realized I forgot the camera. I took some pics with my phone, as soon as I figure out how to send them to my e-mail, I will post a few.

I look funny in this shot (mad and smiling)

She went 36" and 12 lbs

Thanks guys, I'm heading to the east end of cat. @ 5: am tomorrow. See if I can do it again.
Hey Roger, Lobster season is calling me and John Hughes is going to show me how it's done if I can get the fuel problem fixed on my boat before the season starts.

Hmmm maybe Chris speared all the fish and Nate is just holding up a fish for pictures?

Don?t listen to him Roger; he is just bitter that my one fish out weighed both his fish combined.

NO he shot his fish fare and square, he just had to have a LITTLE motivation to get in the water at the end of the day after shooting no fish and he keep's forgeting to add that to his story! It was a damn nice fish and was bigger than either of my fish for the day.

I have my moments of weakness too?

You guys are killing me with talk of spearing pelagics. It seems like Summer is sooo far away. Thank god the Performance Freediving class will give me my fix.
