Default Trinidad Ling Kill 6/30

Fished with my dad & brother, Doug who was our charter for the day and our own resident internet guru Roger who had also come up to sample the Trinidad flavor.

Water was nice & flat today and we hadn't had a knock down in 45 minutes of trolling for salmon, so we voted and decided it was too calm a day not to make the 20 mile ling run to Redding Rock.
So we picked up and ran out to join the Trinnidad fleet over there.

Had a pretty steady ling bite going right off the bat, Doug managed a couple short kings on the drop but did get his ling.

Roger was the hot stick and landed the 1st ling

but unfortunately Roger also landed 3 really nice yellow eyes that were about 5-6#s which he tried to safely release but came back up anyway.

Day total: 4 hours of fishing time on Lake Pacific conditions: 10 ling cod, 5 rock fish & 1 king salmon caught off Redwood Creek on the troll back to the Trinidad harbor by Doug.

You forgot to mention the ling cod that was attached to that bait. Jealous fisherman. . . . . .

WOW, WTG guys. How did you try to release the yellow eye? Were you able to sink them to the bottom or just deflate them to let them swim down on their own?
