Default Lingcod lures & etc.

The infamous lingcod. What do you use to catch them?
For bait I use a single dropper loop and the biggest dine I can find or a small mack with the tail clipped if you have them. Drop it to the bottom and bring it up about 5 turns. They seem to go nuts for a live bait hanging above them like that.
For lures, I'll go with either a 8oz diamond jig tipped with mackerel or a small rock fish, 2nd is a hopkins spoon 6-8oz with the hook replaced with a 1 1/2-2oz leadhead. Toss a small mack, rockfish or whole squid on there and hold on tight.

True that
This place is awesome
It's an hour south of Oregon in the Redwoods and two minutes to the dock.
The place is called Ocean Grove Lodge. Fishsnipers family owns it.
We try to make up there every year, the ing is incredible.
In that forest there is where the rooms for the motel are. We fish on his dads old boat which he just sold. Now the next time we go up there we'll be fishing on his dad's new 25' Davis (Rock Harbor) boat Oh yeah and they own the only bar in town, that's right in front of the lodge Thats where we go for the evening

Sounds like a perfect place for a MOF outting! Thanks for the pics, bet there's some good mushrooms in that forest to go with your fish.

The biggest Lings I ever saw caught were on this show fishing Alaska. These things looked more like dragons. They were freakin HUGE! They were using this huge (single tail)scampi with a gi-normous lead head. Looked like at least a pound. Oh and the scampi was in white and the body alone about the size of a fist and a half.

An outting there would be cool.
Funny you should mention mushrooms. The last time we were there the cook at their resturant brought out some shrooms that he got out of the forest and cooked they were great and had a really meaty texture

Nothing like fresh wild mushrooms, they're everywhere under those redwood trees. The wild blackberrys aren't so bad either.

But, the fishing is the BOMB!

Now you did it. He'll be talking about shrooms for a week. Just keep him away from the bath water.
That looks like the kind of place I'd like to live. Big lings and forest area. That was a nice pic of that ling.
