Default New here.

Hello one & all.

My name is Tony Hobbs & I live in Harbor in Southern Oregon.

I, along with my darling wife Pam, have a 212 Seaswirl Striper, which we use to great effect to fish for the Salmon & bottom fish off our little piece of paradise known as the Banana Belt of Southern Oregon.

I am originally from the UK, from a little town south of London quite close to the coast. I emigrated here to the USA in 2003 to marry my then girlfriend who lived in Las Vegas Nevada.
After 3 years of desert living, I yearned to be back near the sea, as I spent a large amount of my UK time on or by the sea teaching others to fish.

My darling wife said that as I had given up my country of birth to be with her, then she could give up the desert for me. Pam was born in Phoenix Arizona & apart from a short time on the East coast, has lived in one desert region or another all her life.

Since moving here to our little town which is next to Brooking's, we have enjoyed making many new friends & getting involved in the community.
Along with fishing in the Ocean, we fish on the Chetco for Salmon & Steelhead, & also the Rogue, Winchuck, Pistol, Elk & Sixes rivers.
Living here gives us a large choice of rivers to fish in depending on what the weather is doing. We also have the Smith & Klamath rivers in Northern Cal if our rivers are blown out.
I also go hunting in the forests & wilderness which surrounds our town.

We joined the Oregon South Coast Fishermen which meets at the Brookings Elk's club & enjoy doing STEP work with the ODFW. recently I was asked to stand for president of the OSCF & accepted this honour.
Now I seem to be working more hours since retiring than I did when working but I enjoy every minute of it. At the moment we are seining the Rogue river 3 times a week & are in the process of obtaining brood stock for the Indian Creek Hatchery at Gold Beach.

I look forward to conversing with members of Moment of Fame who live in or near our part of Oregon, because as a famous person once wrote, "A stranger is just a new friend I have not met yet".

Tony.
