1993 Evinrude 115hp no start problem

The Whaler I purchased has a new power head and the carbs have been rebuilt but the boat was stored unused the last year or so and now will not start.

I first checked for spark on all cylinders and all cylinders had spark so I sprayed starting fluid into the carbs and the motor started right up then stalled from no fuel.

I tried servel more times but the fuel just would not get into the carbs so I am now thinking a bad fuel pump. I bypassed the fuel pump and ran a line direct to the carbs and it still would not start.

I now have removed the carbs to check for them being clogged and discovered that the carbs are filled with 2 stroke oil and no gas so there might be a problem with the fuel pump where the oil mixes with the gas.

I will clean out the carbs and reinstall them and bypass the fuel pump again and see if the fuel makes it into the carbs.

If after cleaning the carbs it runs with the fuel pump bypassed then I will know for sure the fuel pump is bad and replace it.

I will post the results when I get time to work on it again.

I checked and cleaned the carbs and reinstalled them and the boat started up but ran rough.

I am pretty sure its just a fouled plug and will change them out later.

After taking the boat out a few times,it still tan rough so I pulled the plugs to see if all 4 of the cylinders are firing evenly and found that one cylinder was not firing right.

I looked over all the wiring and found a wire that had a bad connection so I cleaned it up and took the boat out again tonight.

The boat ran great!

I am so glad I found the problem and we even did a little on the breakwall and caught a few calico's.

Hi Stef the motor has a new powerhead with very little hours.The previous owner had it rebuilt then stored the boat before I bought it so there is little or no carbon at all.
