Smile Oxnard Surf Bite Back On

Great website! I just registered on Thursday. This will be my first post. Went to check out 5th Street in Oxnard. Water has finally cleared up. Fished about two hours. Caught 10 barred perch on light tackle. 6lb main line, 4 lb leader, using Big Hammer perch grubs. Motor oil, red flake. Mostly smaller fish to 3/4 lbs. One was about 1.5 lbs. Released all but the largest. Lots of fun on the light tackle.

Hey Bass Hunter welcome aboard!!

As a kid my dad use to take us to Ventura camping alot and now I have my own family now and always take them there every chance we get.

I use to love to fish the surf perch just north of the Ventura pier by the Holiday Inn hotel.

Thanks for the report and don't forget the pics on the next report

Red face Thanks!

Hey Guys, sorry for the slow response. Actually, this is the first forum I've been in so I've been slowly learning my way around the site. Thanks for the welcome. I fish Lake Casitas fairly often. If anybody's interested in doing some freshwater or surf fishing sometime, let me know. I'm no tourney angler or anything like that but I like to get out as often as possible. Also love to trout fish the Bishop area. Used to fish saltwater when I was younger but haven't in several years except for surf fishing.

Went to Oxnard on Sunday. Took my 10ft Shimano Convergence and Shimano Sedona 4000. 6lb line with 4lb leader. Got out around 9:30am. Caught 9 perch in about an hour on plastics.Biggest was around 2 lbs. (13 inches long).

Thanks Johnny. Just walkin up the beach looking for small rips and drop offs. The big one really slammed the bait. Had to loosen the drag a little cause I was afraid of breaking her off.
