Talking Palos Verdes 4/30/05

I took the inflatable out to try it in some open water with my oldest son. We set up and launched around 10:00am & rowed out into the kelp to see if any bass were around. The tide was out and a light wind was blowing so it was easy getting on the spot. We tried a couple drifts jigging plastics in the holes, but no bites. So I moved us about 30 yards south and drifted again. This time the 2" rootbeer tube I was using started getting hit. I looked into the water and was suprised to see a bunch of small WSB attacking it. The water was about 30-40 ft deep and they were holding just off the bottom. I didn't hook any of them but if was fun to watch. The wind started to circle off the cliffs and was blowing us across & into the boiler rocks so we had to call it a day early. I think I'll keep it in the harbor or on a lake next time. It works good out there but when you have to row to get around it wears you out and makes it kinda crazy when you have to come ashore near rocks with waves breaking behind you.
